Passo 1: Create the night sky

Wash and dry your rock. Paint the entire surface with dark blue or navy paint. Apply two coats for a deep, rich night sky color. Let each coat dry fully before the next.

Passo 2: Paint shooting stars

Using yellow or gold paint and your detail brush, paint two or three shooting stars streaking across the sky. Start with a bright star shape and add a long, tapering tail behind it. Make the tails curve gracefully across the rock.

Passo 3: Add twinkling stars

Dip your toothpick in white paint and dot small stars all across the night sky. Vary the sizes — some tiny dots and some slightly larger ones. Add a few yellow stars mixed in for variety.

Passo 4: Add sparkle details

Using white paint and your finest brush, add tiny cross-shaped twinkles to some of the larger stars. Paint four tiny lines radiating from the center of each star. This creates a magical sparkling effect.

Passo 5: Seal your wishing rock

Let everything dry completely. Spray with clear sealant for protection. Hold your rock, make a wish on the shooting star, and then hide it for the next person to find and make their own wish!
