Bring creativity, sensory play, and outdoor adventure to early childhood education.

RoxGeo brings the magic of painted rocks to preschools. Young children naturally love collecting, painting, and hiding stones — and with RoxGeo, these simple activities become meaningful learning experiences. From sensory exploration to early geography concepts, rock painting supports every area of early childhood development.

How It Works in Preschool

1

Collect Stones Together

Take children on a nature walk to find smooth, flat stones. This builds observation skills and connects kids with the outdoors.

2

Paint and Create

Set up a painting station with non-toxic, washable paints. Children paint freely — animals, dots, colors, and shapes. Every rock is a masterpiece.

3

Register Rocks in RoxGeo

The teacher registers each rock in the app, writes the unique code and 4-digit secret PIN on the back, and applies a protective sealant.

4

Hide Rocks on a Walk

During a walk or outdoor playtime, children hide their rocks in safe, visible spots — on benches, by trees, or along paths.

5

Follow the Journey Together

When someone finds a rock and enters the code and PIN, the whole class can see it on the map. The PIN confirms the finder really has the rock. Children learn about new places and the joy of giving.

Benefits for Everyone

For Children

Rock painting develops fine motor skills, color recognition, creativity, and sensory awareness. Hiding and finding rocks encourages outdoor play, patience, and a sense of wonder.

For Teachers

RoxGeo provides a ready-made, cross-curricular activity that covers art, nature, geography, and social skills. It’s easy to set up and children stay engaged for the entire session.

For Parents

Parents love seeing their child’s artwork travel the world. It’s a screen-free, creative activity that families can continue at home on weekends and holidays.

Activity Ideas for Preschool

Rainbow Rock Hunt

Paint rocks in rainbow colors and hide them around the playground. Children search for all the colors and practice naming them.

Animal Friends

Each child paints their favorite animal on a rock. Talk about where each animal lives, what it eats, and its sounds.

Seasonal Stones

Paint rocks with seasonal themes — snowflakes in winter, flowers in spring, suns in summer, leaves in autumn. Great for calendar activities.

Kindness Rocks

Paint simple hearts and smiling faces. Explain to children that someone will find these rocks and feel happy. A perfect introduction to empathy.

Texture Explorer

Collect rocks of different sizes and textures. Paint them and compare: smooth vs. rough, big vs. small. Builds sensory vocabulary and sorting skills.

Story Stones

Paint characters, objects, and places on separate rocks. Children draw stones at random and create stories using the images. Develops narrative skills, imagination, and cooperative play.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RoxGeo suitable for children aged 3–6?
Yes! RoxGeo is designed with young children in mind. The teacher manages the app and registration, while children focus on the creative and outdoor parts — painting, hiding, and celebrating when rocks are found.
Are the paints safe for young children?
We recommend non-toxic, washable acrylic paints labeled AP Certified Non-Toxic. Children should always be supervised during painting. Our starter kit includes child-safe materials.
How much time does a rock painting session take?
A typical session takes 30–45 minutes: 10 minutes for introduction, 20–25 minutes for painting, and 5–10 minutes for cleanup. Hiding rocks can be a separate outdoor activity.
Do children need to use the app themselves?
No. The teacher registers rocks, writes codes and PINs, and checks the map. Children participate in the hands-on activities — painting, hiding, and celebrating discoveries together as a group.
What does the free starter kit include?
The kit includes smooth painting stones, non-toxic acrylic paint sets, brushes, sealant, RoxGeo tracking codes, and a printed activity guide with lesson ideas tailored for preschools.
Can parents follow the rocks at home?
Yes! Each rock has a public profile page at ROXGEO.COM where anyone can see the journey. Parents can share the link with family and friends.
Is there a cost for preschools?
RoxGeo is 100% free to use. Our institutional program also provides free starter kits to qualifying preschools. There are no hidden fees or subscriptions.
How do we apply for the program?
Fill out the application form on this page. We review every application individually. Approved preschools receive a free kit by mail.

Kindness Rocks for a Cause

Combine the joy of painted rocks with the power of helping others. Children can paint special kindness rocks to support a friend, classmate, or community member in need — linking each rock to a fundraising campaign where finders can donate.

How It Works

1

Paint Kindness Rocks

Children paint rocks with hopeful designs — hearts, rainbows, encouraging symbols. Each rock carries a message of support and solidarity for someone who needs help.

2

Register with a Fundraising Link

Register each rock in the RoxGeo app and add a link to the fundraising campaign (e.g., on 4fund.com) in the rock's description. The unique code connects the physical rock to the digital campaign.

3

Hide Rocks in Public Places

Hide the kindness rocks in parks, trails, and public spaces. When someone finds a rock and scans the code, they see the story and can choose to donate.

4

Finders Discover & Donate

Each finder learns about the cause, can donate through the linked campaign, and then re-hides the rock to continue spreading awareness. One rock can inspire dozens of donations.

Fundraising with 4fund.com

4fund.com is a trusted, free fundraising platform that makes it easy to collect donations for personal causes, medical expenses, school projects, and community needs. Creating a campaign takes just a few minutes and there are no platform fees for organizers.

Why Kindness Rocks for Fundraising?

Teaching Empathy

Children learn that even small creative acts can make a real difference in someone's life. Painting a rock becomes a tangible expression of care and compassion.

Creative Engagement

Rock painting transforms fundraising from a passive activity into an exciting creative project. Kids feel ownership and pride in every rock they paint and hide.

Community Impact

Each kindness rock travels through the community, spreading awareness organically. A single rock can reach dozens of people and inspire multiple acts of generosity.

Safety & Guidelines

All fundraising links should be reviewed by a teacher or parent before being added to rocks. Use only verified, trusted fundraising platforms like 4fund.com. Never include personal contact information on the rocks themselves — only the RoxGeo code and website address.

Example: Helping a Classmate

When a classmate needs support — whether for medical treatment, a family emergency, or a school trip they can't afford — the class can paint kindness rocks together. Each rock links to a 4fund.com campaign, and when people find the rocks around town, they can easily donate. It's a beautiful way for children to learn that creativity and kindness can change the world.

Start a Kindness Rocks Campaign

Talk to your teacher, school, or community group about organizing a kindness rocks fundraising project. It's free, creative, and makes a real difference.
