Floral Wreath Rock Painting
Materials Needed
- Round or oval flat rock
- White or soft cream acrylic paint (for background)
- Soft pink acrylic paint
- Coral or peach acrylic paint
- Lavender or purple acrylic paint
- Sage green acrylic paint
- Dark green acrylic paint
- Yellow acrylic paint
- Fine detail brush
- Medium round brush
- Clear sealant spray
- Pencil (light compass for the wreath circle)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Paint the background and draw the wreath circle
Wash and dry your rock. Paint the entire surface white or soft cream. Let dry. Using a pencil, lightly draw a large circle in the center of the rock — this circle guides where the wreath of flowers will go. The center of the circle will remain empty.
Step 2: Paint the green foliage base
Using sage green paint, dab leaves and stems along the circle guideline to establish the wreath shape. Use the round brush to make leaf shapes by pressing and lifting. Vary the direction of leaves. Alternate with darker green leaves for depth. The foliage forms the structural background of the wreath.
Step 3: Add the main flowers
Paint four to six larger flowers spaced around the wreath. Each is a round center dot surrounded by petals. Use pink, coral, and lavender for the flowers. For roses, use circular brushstrokes starting from the center outward. For daisies, paint a yellow center surrounded by long thin petals.
Step 4: Add filler flowers and berries
Fill gaps between the main flowers with small filler elements: tiny five-petal flowers in white or pale yellow, small clusters of three purple dots for berries, and tiny bud shapes. These small fillers create the lush, layered look of a real floral wreath.
Step 5: Add details and seal
Add tiny yellow dots at the center of each flower for stamens. Use a very fine brush to paint thin curling tendrils between some of the leaves for a whimsical botanical touch. Apply clear sealant to preserve your floral wreath rock.
Step 6: Add RoxGeo Code
On the bottom or back of your rock, write ROXGEO.COM followed by a slash and your rock’s unique code (e.g. ROXGEO.COM/ABC123). This lets the finder go directly to your rock’s profile page and log their discovery. If the rock is too small for the full address, write #ROX followed by the code without spaces (e.g. #ROXABC123) — it’s short, easy to search on Google, and leads straight to your rock’s journey page. Use a fine-tip permanent marker or acrylic paint pen, and seal it with clear varnish so the code stays readable through rain, sun, and adventure.
Helpful Tips
- A pencil-drawn circle guideline helps keep the wreath balanced and evenly spaced.
- Build up the wreath in layers: foliage first, then large flowers, then small fillers.
- Vary the flower types — a mix of roses, daisies, and buds looks more natural and lush.
- The white rock background makes pastel floral colors look especially soft and pretty.
- Floral wreath rocks make beautiful wedding favors, gifts, or room decorations.
- For the RoxGeo code on the bottom, use a waterproof permanent marker (like Sharpie) or an acrylic paint pen. Apply 2–3 coats of clear sealant over the code — this keeps it readable through rain, sun, and handling for months.
- Writing #ROXCODE (e.g. #ROXABC123) on your rock makes it easy to find via Google search. We actively optimize for this hashtag, so anyone who searches for it will find your rock’s profile page quickly.
- The full address ROXGEO.COM/CODE takes the finder directly to your rock’s card, where they can see its full travel history, previous finders, and photos from every stop on its journey.
