Gratitude Heart Rock Painting
Materials Needed
- Heart-shaped or oval rock (medium-sized)
- White acrylic paint
- Red acrylic paint
- Pink acrylic paint
- Gold acrylic paint
- Purple acrylic paint
- Fine detail brush
- Medium flat brush
- Toothpick
- Clear sealant spray
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare and base coat
Wash and dry your rock thoroughly. Paint the entire surface white and let it dry completely. This bright base will make the decorative patterns vivid. If you can find a heart-shaped rock, it adds extra meaning.
Step 2: Paint the main heart
Using red paint and your medium brush, paint a large decorative heart that fills most of the rock surface. Make the outline thick and the inside open for patterns. Let the red paint dry completely before adding details.
Step 3: Add inner patterns
Inside the heart, create decorative patterns using pink, purple, and gold paints. Try concentric lines that follow the heart shape, small swirls, dots in rows, or tiny flower shapes. Fill the heart with beautiful, intricate details.
Step 4: Decorate the border
Around the outside of the heart, add decorative elements using your toothpick and detail brush. Paint small dots, tiny hearts, stars, or swirling vines in gold and pink. These details frame the heart beautifully.
Step 5: Add final touches and seal
Add white highlight dots and gold accents to make the patterns sparkle. Once fully dry, apply clear sealant spray. Your gratitude heart rock is ready — give it to someone you are thankful for, or hide it to brighten a stranger's day.
Step 6: Add RoxGeo Code
On the bottom or back of your rock, write ROXGEO.COM followed by a slash and your rock’s unique code (e.g. ROXGEO.COM/ABC123). This lets the finder go directly to your rock’s profile page and log their discovery. If the rock is too small for the full address, write #ROX followed by the code without spaces (e.g. #ROXABC123) — it’s short, easy to search on Google, and leads straight to your rock’s journey page. Use a fine-tip permanent marker or acrylic paint pen, and seal it with clear varnish so the code stays readable through rain, sun, and adventure.
Helpful Tips
- Look for a rock with a naturally heart-like shape for the most meaningful gratitude rock.
- Use a pencil to plan your pattern layout inside the heart before painting.
- Metallic gold paint adds an elegant, special touch to the decorative patterns.
- Concentric lines inside the heart are easier than they look — just follow the heart shape, making each line slightly smaller.
- Write a small note to include with the rock when giving it as a gift to express what you are grateful for.
- For the RoxGeo code on the bottom, use a waterproof permanent marker (like Sharpie) or an acrylic paint pen. Apply 2–3 coats of clear sealant over the code — this keeps it readable through rain, sun, and handling for months.
- Writing #ROXCODE (e.g. #ROXABC123) on your rock makes it easy to find via Google search. We actively optimize for this hashtag, so anyone who searches for it will find your rock’s profile page quickly.
- The full address ROXGEO.COM/CODE takes the finder directly to your rock’s card, where they can see its full travel history, previous finders, and photos from every stop on its journey.
