Kindness Rock Painting
Materials Needed
- Smooth, oval rock (palm-sized)
- Red acrylic paint
- Yellow acrylic paint
- Orange acrylic paint
- Pink acrylic paint
- White acrylic paint
- Fine detail brush
- Medium round brush
- Clear sealant spray
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the rock
Wash your rock with soap and water and let it dry completely. Choose a smooth, oval rock that fits nicely in your hand. Place newspaper or plastic on your workspace.
Step 2: Paint the warm background
Paint the entire rock with a warm orange or pink base color. Apply two coats for an even finish. These warm colors represent the feeling of kindness and caring.
Step 3: Add a big heart
Using red paint and your medium brush, paint a large heart in the center of the rock. Make it big enough to fill most of the surface. Let it dry completely before continuing.
Step 4: Add stars and decorations
Using yellow and white paint, add small stars around the heart. You can also add small dots, swirls, or tiny hearts around the main design. These details make the rock feel extra special.
Step 5: Seal and share kindness
Once everything is fully dry, spray with clear sealant to protect the paint. Your kindness rock is ready! Leave it somewhere special for someone to find and feel the warmth of your care.
Step 6: Add RoxGeo Code
On the bottom or back of your rock, write ROXGEO.COM followed by a slash and your rock’s unique code (e.g. ROXGEO.COM/ABC123). This lets the finder go directly to your rock’s profile page and log their discovery. If the rock is too small for the full address, write #ROX followed by the code without spaces (e.g. #ROXABC123) — it’s short, easy to search on Google, and leads straight to your rock’s journey page. Use a fine-tip permanent marker or acrylic paint pen, and seal it with clear varnish so the code stays readable through rain, sun, and adventure.
Helpful Tips
- Warm colors like orange, pink, and red naturally evoke feelings of kindness and love.
- Let younger children use finger painting for the heart shape — it adds a personal touch.
- Add dots and stars with the end of a pencil eraser for perfect circles.
- Make several kindness rocks at once and hide them around your neighborhood.
- These rocks make wonderful gifts for friends, family, or teachers.
- For the RoxGeo code on the bottom, use a waterproof permanent marker (like Sharpie) or an acrylic paint pen. Apply 2–3 coats of clear sealant over the code — this keeps it readable through rain, sun, and handling for months.
- Writing #ROXCODE (e.g. #ROXABC123) on your rock makes it easy to find via Google search. We actively optimize for this hashtag, so anyone who searches for it will find your rock’s profile page quickly.
- The full address ROXGEO.COM/CODE takes the finder directly to your rock’s card, where they can see its full travel history, previous finders, and photos from every stop on its journey.
