Rabbit Rock Painting
Materials Needed
- Oval or rounded rock (palm-sized)
- White or light gray acrylic paint
- Pink acrylic paint
- Black acrylic paint
- Light blue or sky acrylic paint (optional background)
- Fine detail brush
- Medium flat brush
- Clear sealant spray
- Pencil
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Sketch the rabbit face and ears
Wash and dry your rock. Lightly sketch a round rabbit face taking up most of the rock surface, with two tall oval ears rising from the top of the head. The ears should be about the same height as the face itself.
Step 2: Paint the face white
Paint the entire face and ears with white paint. Apply two coats for a clean, bright finish. White rocks look naturally like rabbits — their soft, round shapes and neutral color immediately suggest a fluffy bunny.
Step 3: Add pink inner ears and nose
Paint a slightly smaller oval inside each ear with pink paint to show the inner ear. Paint a small pink triangle or rounded oval for the nose in the center of the face. The pink details against the white base immediately bring the rabbit to life.
Step 4: Paint the eyes and mouth
Paint two large black circles for eyes, positioned in the upper half of the face. Add small white highlight dots to each eye for sparkle. Below the nose, draw a small curved line for each side of the mouth — like two small curves meeting at the nose, creating a sweet smile.
Step 5: Add whiskers and seal
Using white or very light gray paint and a fine brush, add three whiskers on each side of the nose, extending outward. Make them thin, long, and slightly curved. Once everything is dry, apply clear sealant. Your bunny rock is ready!
Step 6: Add RoxGeo Code
On the bottom or back of your rock, write ROXGEO.COM followed by a slash and your rock’s unique code (e.g. ROXGEO.COM/ABC123). This lets the finder go directly to your rock’s profile page and log their discovery. If the rock is too small for the full address, write #ROX followed by the code without spaces (e.g. #ROXABC123) — it’s short, easy to search on Google, and leads straight to your rock’s journey page. Use a fine-tip permanent marker or acrylic paint pen, and seal it with clear varnish so the code stays readable through rain, sun, and adventure.
Helpful Tips
- Tall oval ears are the most important feature — make them proportionally large for instant rabbit recognition.
- Soft gray paint on the edges of the face adds depth and a fluffy fur appearance.
- The pink inner ear color makes a huge visual impact with very little paint needed.
- Gray or white rocks require less base coats — look for naturally pale stones.
- Rabbit rocks are perfect Easter gifts and spring nature craft projects.
- For the RoxGeo code on the bottom, use a waterproof permanent marker (like Sharpie) or an acrylic paint pen. Apply 2–3 coats of clear sealant over the code — this keeps it readable through rain, sun, and handling for months.
- Writing #ROXCODE (e.g. #ROXABC123) on your rock makes it easy to find via Google search. We actively optimize for this hashtag, so anyone who searches for it will find your rock’s profile page quickly.
- The full address ROXGEO.COM/CODE takes the finder directly to your rock’s card, where they can see its full travel history, previous finders, and photos from every stop on its journey.
