Emoji Faces Rock Painting
Materials Needed
- Several round, smooth rocks (3-5 pieces)
- Yellow acrylic paint
- Black acrylic paint
- Red acrylic paint
- White acrylic paint
- Blue acrylic paint
- Medium round brush
- Fine detail brush
- Clear sealant spray
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare all rocks
Wash all your rocks with soap and water and let them dry completely. Round, smooth rocks work best because they naturally look like faces. Choose 3 to 5 rocks for a set of different emoji expressions.
Step 2: Paint yellow bases
Paint all rocks with bright yellow paint. Apply two coats for a vibrant, even color. Let each coat dry completely. This classic yellow is the base for all emoji expressions.
Step 3: Paint different eyes
Give each rock a different eye expression using black and white paint. Try: round happy eyes, heart-shaped eyes, closed peaceful eyes (curved lines), surprised wide eyes, or winking (one open, one closed).
Step 4: Add mouths and expressions
Paint matching mouths for each expression: a big smile, a heart-shaped kiss, a peaceful grin, a round surprised mouth, or a playful tongue sticking out. Use red for tongues and lips. Add pink cheeks to some faces for extra charm.
Step 5: Seal your emoji collection
Once all faces are fully dry, spray each rock with clear sealant. You now have a whole collection of emoji rocks! Use them for games, decoration, or hide them to make people smile.
Step 6: Add RoxGeo Code
On the bottom or back of your rock, write ROXGEO.COM followed by a slash and your rock’s unique code (e.g. ROXGEO.COM/ABC123). This lets the finder go directly to your rock’s profile page and log their discovery. If the rock is too small for the full address, write #ROX followed by the code without spaces (e.g. #ROXABC123) — it’s short, easy to search on Google, and leads straight to your rock’s journey page. Use a fine-tip permanent marker or acrylic paint pen, and seal it with clear varnish so the code stays readable through rain, sun, and adventure.
Helpful Tips
- Round, flat rocks are perfect for emoji faces — they look like natural little screens.
- Sketch expressions lightly with pencil before painting to plan your designs.
- Use the eraser end of a pencil to stamp perfect circles for cheeks and small details.
- Make a feelings game: kids pick an emoji rock that matches how they feel today.
- These make great classroom tools for discussing emotions and feelings with children.
- For the RoxGeo code on the bottom, use a waterproof permanent marker (like Sharpie) or an acrylic paint pen. Apply 2–3 coats of clear sealant over the code — this keeps it readable through rain, sun, and handling for months.
- Writing #ROXCODE (e.g. #ROXABC123) on your rock makes it easy to find via Google search. We actively optimize for this hashtag, so anyone who searches for it will find your rock’s profile page quickly.
- The full address ROXGEO.COM/CODE takes the finder directly to your rock’s card, where they can see its full travel history, previous finders, and photos from every stop on its journey.
